Home Assistant underneath, IoTiq on top.
IoTiq doesn’t reinvent device support. It connects to Home Assistant — which already supports thousands of Zigbee, Matter and Wi-Fi devices — through the IoTiq Connector. Each path below is at a different stage, and we label that honestly.
Home Assistant + Zigbee
IoTiq’s main device path. The IoTiq Connector installs on your Home Assistant system and links it securely to the IoTiq app. Zigbee devices join Home Assistant through ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT with a supported coordinator. Not yet tested by IoTiq on real installations.
Matter
Matter devices connect through Home Assistant’s Matter integration; Matter-over-Thread devices also need a Thread Border Router. IoTiq has not yet tested Matter devices on real hardware.
MQTT
MQTT devices and tools connect through Home Assistant’s MQTT integration. IoTiq’s own direct MQTT adapter is used for development and testing and is not part of the customer setup.
Tuya
Tuya-based Wi-Fi devices are common and usually depend on Tuya’s cloud. Many can be used through Home Assistant’s Tuya integration; IoTiq’s own direct Tuya integration is experimental and not available.
Building an Integration
IoTiq’s developer side is coming.
IoTiq is designed to let developers build and extend device and integration support, similar to how other smart-home platforms grow their device catalogue through community and partner contributions. Details on the SDK, API and integration quality levels will be published on our Developers pages as they become available.
Availability, feature parity and hardware requirements differ by integration and change as development progresses. Always check the Compatible Devices page for the current status of a specific model before purchasing.
