Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to your use of iotiq.ca and to every purchase made through it. iotiq.ca is operated by IoTiq, a Canadian business based in Halifax, Nova Scotia (“IoTiq”, “we”, “us”). By using the site or placing an order you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Shipping Policy and our Returns & Warranty policy.

1. Who Can Buy

We sell to customers with a delivery address in Canada. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your province, to place an order.

2. Products and Descriptions

We supply smart home and office devices made by established third-party manufacturers. We describe them as accurately as we can, but specifications, packaging and appearance are set by the manufacturer and can change without notice. Product photos are for illustration. If a product you receive is materially different from its description, your remedy is to return it under our Returns & Warranty policy.

3. Compatibility

Compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant, Matter, Zigbee or other platforms depends on the exact model, firmware, hardware revision and your existing setup. Compatibility statements on our Compatible Devices page show the documented status of each model; a device listed as anything other than “IoTiq Verified” has not completed IoTiq’s own lab testing. If compatibility matters to your decision, ask us before you order and we will confirm it in writing.

4. IoTiq App, Connector and Early Access

The IoTiq app, the IoTiq Connector for Home Assistant and related software are in active development and offered through early access only. Early-access software is provided “as is”, may change or be discontinued, and is not required for any device we sell to work with the manufacturer’s own app or the platform named in its description. Signing up for early access does not create a purchase or a guaranteed delivery date. Items on our roadmap describe intent, not a commitment.

5. Prices and Taxes

All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Applicable taxes (GST/HST/PST/QST) are added at checkout where they apply. Prices, promotions and availability can change without notice. If a product is listed at an incorrect price because of an error, we will contact you before shipping and you can choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

6. Orders and Acceptance

Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we confirm and ship your order. We may review orders before shipping and may ask you to verify your details, for example when the shipping and billing addresses differ. We may decline or cancel an order (with a full refund) if a product is unavailable, a pricing error occurred, or we cannot verify the payment.

7. Payment

We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Payments are processed by our payment provider; IoTiq does not store your full card details. Your card is charged when you place the order. Quotes for packages, bundles and commercial projects are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.

8. Cancelling an Order

You can cancel free of charge any time before your order ships by emailing info@iotiq.ca with your order number. Once an order has shipped, the return policy applies instead. Special-order or custom-configured commercial items may be non-cancellable once ordered from the manufacturer; we will tell you in your quote if this applies.

9. Shipping and Risk of Loss

Delivery times, damage reporting and undeliverable shipments are covered in our Shipping Policy. Ownership and risk of loss pass to you when the courier delivers your order.

10. Setup, Installation and Safety

Most products are designed for self-setup using the manufacturer’s instructions and our setup guidance. Any hardwired installation — thermostats with line-voltage wiring, hardwired locks, doorbells or lighting — must follow the manufacturer’s instructions and applicable electrical codes, and may require a licensed electrician. You are responsible for arranging that work. Where we provide installation help, we may decline a job or require a licensed professional if we have safety concerns.

11. Not a Monitoring or Emergency Service

The products we sell, and any alerts they send, are not a substitute for a monitored alarm service, a certified smoke or carbon-monoxide alarm, or emergency services. Alerts depend on power, network connections and third-party services and may be delayed or fail. In an emergency, call 911.

12. Third-Party Services

Some product features rely on the manufacturer’s cloud service, app or account (for example remote access to Google Nest or ecobee devices). Those services are provided by the manufacturer under its own terms and privacy policy, and the manufacturer may change or end them. IoTiq is not responsible for third-party services.

13. Warranty

Every product carries its manufacturer’s warranty. IoTiq helps you make warranty claims, for products bought directly from IoTiq, as described in our Returns & Warranty policy. Except for that, and except where the law does not allow it, products are sold without any additional warranty from IoTiq.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, IoTiq’s total liability for any claim relating to a product or order is limited to the amount you paid for that product, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of data, property or profits. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

15. Website Use

Content on iotiq.ca — text, images, logos and guides — belongs to IoTiq or its licensors and may not be copied for commercial use without permission. Product names and brands belong to their respective owners; their use does not imply endorsement. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to access it without authorisation or interfere with its operation.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protections of the consumer laws of the province you live in. If a dispute comes up, please contact us first — most issues are resolved quickly by email.

17. Changes

We may update these terms. The version posted on this page when you place an order applies to that order.
