Why People Use It
Keys are easy to copy and hard to take back.
Give access without giving a key.
Cleaners, trades, dog walkers and guests get their own code — for the hours you choose.
Access that ends on time.
Codes expire automatically. No chasing anyone to return a key.
Know who came in, and when.
Every code use is timestamped, so you know the cleaner arrived and the contractor left.
How It Works
The lock decides at the door, even without internet.
Front Door
● Locked · battery 82%
Personal codes for the household, fingerprints for daily use, time-limited codes for visitors.
Codes and fingerprints are verified on the lock itself, so they work without the internet.
Code uses are logged and synced to your phone, where you add or remove codes from anywhere.

- Lock: a smart deadbolt or retrofit lock with keypad, fingerprint reader, app control and a physical key backup.
- Power: its own rechargeable or replaceable battery — not your home’s power.
- Verification: codes and fingerprints are checked on the lock, so entry keeps working without internet.
- Connection: Thread, Zigbee or Wi-Fi depending on the model; we confirm which one suits your door and network.
- Integration: unlock events can trigger Home Assistant automations, such as hallway lights or disarming your alarm.
- App: today, codes and logs are managed in the lock’s own app or Home Assistant. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Know What You’re Getting
Clear about what it does — and what it doesn’t.
Your exact configuration, in writing
Before you order, your quote lists every device, its quantity, where it goes and which features it supports.
Manufacturer-backed hardware
Every device carries its manufacturer’s warranty. We tell you the warranty length for each one in your quote.
A lock, not a monitoring service
The lock controls who gets in. It doesn’t call anyone if a door is forced — pair it with an alarm system if you need that.

Four questions to think about before you order
Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.
What deadbolt do you have now? Most standard Canadian deadbolts are compatible; a photo of both sides of the door helps.
Do you own the home?Renters can use a retrofit lock that comes off when they move.
Who needs access, and when?Household, cleaners, trades, guests — each can have their own schedule.
Do you want it to work with other devices?Lights, alarm or doorbell — we confirm compatibility before ordering.
Privacy & data handling
Codes and fingerprints are stored on the lock itself. The entry log records which code was used and when; it is stored on the lock and in the app you use to manage it. Remote access goes through that app’s own service. Before setup we confirm in writing which features of the lock rely on the manufacturer’s cloud. How IoTiq handles data →
FAQ
Questions about smart locks.
Will it fit my door?+−
Most standard Canadian deadbolts are compatible. We confirm your door hardware before anything ships.
What if the batteries die?+−
You get low-battery warnings weeks in advance, and every lock has a physical key or an emergency power port as backup.
Can someone hack it?+−
Codes are checked on the lock, and remote access is encrypted. We set up the lock on your network with secure settings and keep firmware current.
Can I use it in a rental I don’t own?+−
Yes. A retrofit lock fits over your existing deadbolt and comes off in minutes when you move.
Does it work with Airbnb or other booking platforms?+−
Many locks can generate a code per booking. We confirm which booking tools work with your lock before ordering.
Do I need a monthly subscription?+−
No. Codes, schedules and the entry log work without a subscription.
