Occupancy & Room Usage Monitoring
Know which rooms are actually used.
Radar sensors that know whether a room is in use — even when people sit still — so you can see real utilisation, free up “booked but empty” rooms, and stop heating and lighting empty spaces.

Why Workplaces Use It
The calendar says the room is busy. It’s empty.
See real utilisation.
Find out which rooms are overbooked and which sit empty most of the week — before you lease more space.
Stillness counts as occupied.
Radar detects breathing-level movement, so a quiet meeting doesn’t turn the lights off.
Empty rooms cost less.
Lights and heating drop automatically when a room is vacant and come back when someone walks in.
How It Works
Sensors in each room, decisions in your building.
Office · Floor 2
● 5 rooms monitored
Radar senses people, even sitting still, without any image or audio.
Lights and heating follow occupancy in each room, decided on-site.
Hourly and weekly utilisation, room by room, so space decisions use real data.

- Sensors: mmWave radar presence sensors; larger rooms use zone-capable sensors that give an approximate headcount.
- Privacy: radar produces no images and no audio — only presence, position and approximate number of people.
- Controller: a small local computer running Home Assistant that tracks occupancy and runs lighting and heating rules.
- Exclusion zones: set during installation so movement in a hallway or the room next door isn’t counted.
- Integration: lighting, thermostats and some room-booking systems can be connected; booking integration is quoted.
- App: today, dashboards use Home Assistant. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Know What You’re Getting
Clear about what it does — and what it doesn’t.
Your exact configuration, in writing
Before you order, your quote lists every device, its quantity, where it goes and which features it supports.
Manufacturer-backed hardware
Every device carries its manufacturer’s warranty. We tell you the warranty length for each one in your quote.
Presence, not surveillance
The system knows a room is in use and roughly how many people are in it. It doesn’t identify anyone or record what happens in the room.

Four questions to think about before you order
Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.
How many rooms do you want to measure?Meeting rooms, focus rooms, offices or waiting areas.
Is there a power outlet near each sensor spot?Sensors are mains-powered; we plan placement around outlets.
Do you use a room-booking system?Booking integration is possible with some systems and is quoted.
Who will read the reports?Facilities, office managers or leadership — reports are set up for them.
Privacy & data handling
Radar sensors detect presence, position and an approximate number of people. They produce no images and no audio, and do not identify anyone. Occupancy data is stored on the controller in your building. We recommend telling staff that rooms measure occupancy, and sharing reports at room level rather than by person. How IoTiq handles data →
FAQ
Questions about room occupancy sensors.
Can it count exactly how many people are in a room?+−
It gives an approximate headcount. For exact counts at a doorway, use a People Counting System.
Does it use cameras?+−
No. Radar detects presence without producing any image or audio.
Will it trigger from the room next door?+−
Radar can sense through thin walls, so we set exclusion zones during installation and test each room.
Does it work with our booking system?+−
Some booking systems can be connected to flag or release booked-but-empty rooms. This is quoted once we know your system.
Can it save energy?+−
Yes, when lights or heating are connected: empty rooms drop to a setback level automatically.
Is there a monthly fee?+−
No. Sensors, reports and automations work without a subscription.
