Smart Thermostat & Room-by-Room Heating

Stop heating an empty house.

A smart thermostat matched to your heating system, room sensors that keep the rooms you use comfortable, and control for mini-split heat pumps — so heat follows people, not the floor plan.

Why Canadians Use It

Your heating runs on the worst-case assumption.

Matched to your heating.

Forced air, baseboard, heat pump, oil or gas — we confirm the right control for your system before you order.

Warm when you’re home, not when you’re not.

The house sets back when everyone leaves and warms up before you’re back.

Heat pumps, finally coordinated.

Mini-splits and backup heat work together instead of fighting each other.

1. The thermostat learns your week

A schedule built around when you’re actually home, asleep or away.

2. Rooms tell it where you are

Room sensors keep occupied rooms comfortable and let empty ones cool.

3. You stay in control

Change the temperature from anywhere and see what heating costs each month.

  • Thermostat: a smart thermostat compatible with forced air, heat pump, oil and gas systems; we check your wiring first.
  • Room sensors: the thermostat’s own sensor, or radar presence sensors that detect people sitting still, with a home controller.
  • Heat pumps: mini-split controllers for each indoor unit, with switch-over to backup heat by outdoor temperature.
  • Baseboard heat: line-voltage baseboards need dedicated line-voltage thermostats; we quote these separately.
  • Offline: the thermostat keeps its schedule without internet; remote control and reports need a connection.
  • App: today, the thermostat’s own app, or Home Assistant for room and heat pump control. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Outages

What happens if the internet or power goes out?

Straight answers, because this is exactly when you need the system to work.

SituationHeating controlRemote control & reports
Power and internet working✓ Schedule, away mode and room control✓ Yes
Internet down, power on✓ Keeps running your schedule✕ Remote changes and reports wait
Power out✕ Most heating systems stop without power✕ No
Heat pump can’t keep up in deep cold✓ Switches to backup heat (with heat pump control)✓ Alert when backup heat runs
Older wiring without a common wire! May need an adapter✓ Checked before you order
A power cut stops most heating. A smart thermostat can’t heat without power. For homes that are often empty in winter, pair it with the Freeze & Humidity Alert System so you hear about outages in time.

Manufacturer-backed hardware

Every device carries its manufacturer’s warranty. We tell you the warranty length for each one in your quote.

Savings depend on your home

Thermostat makers report typical heating and cooling savings of around 10–15%, but your result depends on your home, climate and habits. We don’t promise a specific saving.

Four questions to think about before you order

Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.

What heats your home?Forced air, boiler, central heat pump, mini-splits or baseboards.

Can you photograph your current thermostat wiring? It tells us whether an adapter is needed.

Which rooms matter most?Bedrooms, an office or a basement suite — they get the sensors.

Is the home often empty?Away mode and freeze alerts matter more for cottages and rentals.

Privacy & data handling

Temperature, schedule and occupancy data are stored on the thermostat and, with room control, on the controller in your home. Some thermostats also use their maker’s cloud for remote access and reports; before setup we confirm in writing which features rely on it. No cameras or microphones are involved. FAQ

Questions about smart heating.

How much will I save?+−

Thermostat makers report typical heating and cooling savings of around 10–15%. Your result depends on your home, climate and habits.

I only have mini-splits, no central thermostat. Does this work?+−

Does it work with a thermostat I already own?+−

Often, yes. We can add room sensors and automations around an existing smart thermostat.

What happens if the internet goes down?+−

The thermostat keeps running your schedule. Remote control and reports wait for the connection.

Is there a monthly fee?+−

No.
