Why Families Use It
You don’t want to watch. You want to know they’re okay.
Independence first.
Nothing to wear, press or charge. Daily life continues exactly as before.
Notice changes early.
Getting up later, skipping the kitchen, more night-time bathroom visits — patterns show up before problems do.
Night-time exits.
An alert if the front door opens during the night — helpful when memory is a concern.
How It Works
Patterns, not pictures.
Dad’s Home
● Normal day so far
Which rooms are used, when the kettle goes on, when the front door opens.
After about two weeks it knows a typical day and notices when it changes.
A short daily summary, plus an alert only when something is unusual.
View technical architecture
- Presence sensors: mmWave radar sensors that detect someone in a room, even sitting still — no images, no audio.
- Door sensor: a contact sensor on the front door, used for night-time exit alerts.
- Appliance plug: an energy-monitoring smart plug that notices when the kettle or coffee maker is used.
- Controller: a small local computer running Home Assistant that learns the routine and sends summaries and alerts.
- Learning period: about two weeks before unusual-pattern alerts are reliable; summaries start on day one.
- App: today, summaries and alerts use the Home Assistant mobile app. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Receive your configuration. Sensor positions, alerts, summaries and total cost — in writing.
Install and connect. Sensors mounted discreetly; they don’t look like medical equipment.

Four questions to think about before you order
Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.
Does your parent live alone?Summaries work best when one person’s routine is being learned.
Is memory a concern?Night-time front door alerts are included and can be sent to several family members.
Who should get the daily summary? One or several family members, each on their own phone.
Has your parent agreed? We explain that there are no cameras or microphones, so they know what the sensors do.
Privacy & data handling
Sensors detect presence and door or appliance use. There are no cameras and no microphones. Activity data and the learned routine stay on the controller in the home; summaries and alerts reach family phones over the internet. We recommend agreeing with your parent which family members receive updates. How IoTiq handles data →
FAQ
Questions families ask about activity monitoring.
Does my parent need to do anything?+−
No. Sensors work passively once installed.
Is this a medical service?+−
No. It gives family information about daily activity; it does not diagnose and is not monitored 24/7.
How long before alerts are reliable?+−
The system needs about two weeks to learn a normal routine. Daily summaries start on day one.
What if a caregiver or visitor comes?+−
Activity is counted for everyone present. Summaries are still useful, and we can tune alerts around regular visits.
Does it detect falls?+−
Not on its own. Add radar fall detection in the bedroom and bathroom for that.
Is there a monthly fee?+−
No. Summaries and alerts work without a subscription.
