Why Businesses Use It
Motion alerts cry wolf. Real intruders get ignored.
Alerts for people, not branches.
AI tells people and vehicles apart from wind, snow, shadows and animals — so an alert means something.
Rules by time of day.
A person at the loading dock at 2 pm is normal. At 2 am, it’s an alert.
Lights that respond.
Floodlights and a siren switch on the moment someone crosses a boundary after hours.
How It Works
Detection happens on-site, so it works when the internet doesn’t.
Yard & Loading Dock
● After-hours mode · 4 cameras online
Gates, fence lines, the lot and loading areas — wherever people shouldn’t be after closing.
Virtual lines, zones and time windows decide what counts as an intrusion or loitering.
Floodlights switch on, the siren sounds if you choose, and you get a clip on your phone.

- Cameras: 4K outdoor network cameras with night vision, powered through their network cable (PoE).
- Recorder: a local video recorder with an AI accelerator running open-source detection software; it can also work with many existing network cameras.
- Rules: virtual boundary lines, zones, loitering time thresholds and schedules, all processed on-site.
- Response: relays switch floodlights and a siren through a home or business controller running Home Assistant.
- Storage: continuous recording on the recorder’s hard drive; the oldest footage is overwritten automatically.
- App: today, alerts and live view use the Home Assistant mobile app. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Four questions to think about before you order
Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.
What are your opening hours?After-hours rules start when the last person leaves.
Is there power and network near the camera spots? Each camera needs one network cable; we plan the routes.
Do you have floodlights already?Existing lights can often be switched by the system.
Who responds to an alert at night? An owner, a manager or a guard service — decide before go-live.
Privacy & data handling
Footage and detection events are stored on the recorder at your site, not on an IoTiq server. Cameras are aimed at your property, not at neighbouring buildings or public sidewalks beyond what’s necessary, and we recommend signage that the area is under video surveillance. Viewing cameras away from the site uses an encrypted connection to your recorder. How IoTiq handles data →
FAQ
Questions about AI perimeter detection.
Can it use my existing cameras?+−
Often, yes. Many standard network cameras can be connected to the AI recorder; we confirm compatibility during the walk-through.
How many false alerts should I expect?+−
Far fewer than with basic motion detection, but every site needs tuning for lighting, snow and traffic. The first month includes adjustment.
Is footage sent to the cloud?+−
No. Detection and recording happen on the recorder at your site.
Is there a per-camera licence fee?+−
No. There is no subscription or licence fee for detection or recording.
What is loitering detection?+−
An alert when a person stays in a zone longer than the time you set — for example, more than two minutes at a back door after hours.
Who responds when an alert comes in?+−
You or the people you choose. IoTiq doesn’t dispatch guards or police; many businesses share alerts with a guard service they already use.
