Why Businesses Use It
Paper sign-in sheets and spare keys don’t scale.
No keys to collect.
Each employee has a personal card or PIN. When they leave, access ends with one tap — no rekeying.
No separate punch clock.
Clock-in and clock-out happen at the door, so the record is complete without anyone remembering.
Payroll without retyping.
Timesheets export in a format your payroll software can import, with exceptions flagged.
How It Works
Entry and time records, handled at the door.
Staff Entrance
● Door secured · 14 clocked in
Employees tap a card or enter a PIN. The door opens and the time is recorded.
Opening staff get in at 6 am; part-time staff only during their shifts.
Missed clock-outs, late arrivals and after-hours entries land in a weekly summary.
View technical architecture
- Terminal: a card and PIN access terminal that stores users, schedules and time records on the device.
- Door hardware: an electric strike or magnetic lock with its own power supply and a request-to-exit button, installed by a low-voltage technician.
- Time records: stored on the terminal and exported as a CSV that most payroll tools can import.
- Offline: entry and time recording keep working without internet; records sync when the network returns.
- Biometrics: none by default. Face recognition is available only as an option, with consent and a card or PIN alternative.
- App: today, users and reports are managed in the terminal’s own software. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Four questions to think about before you order
Not sure? That’s fine — we check them with you during the free assessment.
Which door do staff use?One staff entrance is typical; more doors can be added.
Is there power and network near it?The terminal and lock need both; we plan cable runs if not.
Which payroll software do you use?We match the export format before ordering.
How are shifts organised?Opening, closing and part-time schedules decide the access rules.
Privacy & data handling
The terminal stores each employee’s name, card or PIN, and their entry and exit times. No biometric data is collected unless you choose the optional face recognition, which requires consent and a card or PIN alternative. Records stay on the terminal and in the export you control. We help you set a retention period and decide who can view timesheets. How IoTiq handles data →
FAQ
Questions about access and time tracking.
Which payroll software does it work with?+−
Every setup exports a CSV that most payroll tools import. A direct integration can be quoted once we know your provider.
Does it use facial recognition?+−
Not by default. Card or PIN is standard; face recognition is optional, with consent and a non-biometric alternative.
Can managers see who is on site right now?+−
Yes. The dashboard shows who has clocked in and from which door.
What if someone forgets to clock out?+−
It’s flagged as an exception in the summary so a manager can correct the record before payroll.
What happens when someone leaves?+−
Remove them in one tap. Their card and PIN stop working immediately.
Do I need an electrician?+−
Door hardware is installed by a low-voltage technician. We arrange it and include it in your written quote.
