Know when it gets loud — before the neighbours call.

Why Hosts and Landlords Use It

One loud night can cost you a neighbour — or a licence.

Decibels, not conversations.

The sensor measures how loud it is. It doesn’t record or transmit audio.

Rules for quiet hours.

Set different limits for daytime and night, weekdays and weekends.

Guests hear about it first.

An automatic message asks guests to turn it down before a complaint arrives.

How It Works

A measurement, not a microphone recording.

1. The sensor measures

Sound level is measured continuously; no audio is stored or sent.

2. Your limit decides

An alert only fires when noise stays above your limit for the time you set.

3. Guests get a nudge

An automatic message goes to the guest first; you get the alert and the history.

  • Sensor: a battery-powered, wall-mounted noise sensor that measures sound level in decibels — no audio recording.
  • Service: the sensor uses its maker’s monitoring service for alerts and history; this is billed monthly.
  • Thresholds: separate limits and durations for quiet hours, daytime and weekends.
  • Guest messages: sent automatically through supported booking and messaging tools.
  • Integration: noise events can also trigger Home Assistant automations where you have a home controller.
  • App: today, alerts and history use the sensor maker’s app. The IoTiq app is in early access and is not required.

Outages

What happens if the internet or power goes out?

Straight answers, because this is exactly when you need the system to work.

SituationNoise measuringAlerts & guest messages
Power and Wi-Fi working✓ Measuring✓ Alerts and guest messages
Wi-Fi down✓ Keeps measuring✕ Not until Wi-Fi returns
Power out✓ Keeps measuring on battery! Only if the router is on backup power
Sensor battery getting low✓ Works normally✓ Low-battery alert in advance
Short loud moment (door slam, laugh)✓ Measured✓ No alert unless it lasts past your limit
Short spikes don’t trigger alerts. An alert needs noise to stay above your limit for the time you choose, so a slammed door or a burst of laughter doesn’t message your guests. Alerts need Wi-Fi at the property.

Know What You’re Getting

Manufacturer-backed hardware

Every device carries its manufacturer’s warranty. We tell you the warranty length for each one in your quote.

A measurement, not enforcement

The system tells you and your guests when it’s too loud. Responding to complaints and enforcing house rules remains your responsibility.

IoTiq’s device testing programme is in progress. Devices are not labelled “IoTiq Verified” until physical testing is complete and documented. See current status →
